Is your ‘home office’ summer-proof yet?
Mobile air conditioners always regain popularity as soon as spring is in the air. Especially now Dutch summer temperatures have been peaking over and over again in recent years. Warmer weather is great when we are enjoying our holidays or while relaxing, but it also has its downsides. Particularly as working from home is more or less being normalised nowadays, hot weather can cause uncomfortable situations at the ‘home office'.
Without a doubt, mobile air conditioning is perfect for a home office as it can easily be moved all over the house for amazing freshness. Still, people often forget to check one of the most important parts for defects: The air conditioner tube, via which hot air is removed from the mobile air conditioner into open air. Especially if a rolled-up air conditioner hose has been stored for a while this can lead to problems, because of which hot air is not removed correctly.
To prevent this, Nedco offers 5 tips to keep in mind when reinstalling the air conditioner hose:
1. Take distance into consideration
This may sound obvious, but many people forget to take into account that a tube should actually hang outside for proper hot air removal. When purchasing and/or using the air conditioner hose, keep in mind that the hose should be much longer than the actual distance between the mobile air conditioner and the window.
2. Mind the connection diameter
A connection diameter that is too large will blow a lot of heat back into the room. A connection diameter that is too small will often not be connectible and will cause the same effect.
3. Carefully check the air conditioner tube for any cracks or holes.
The older your air conditioner tube is, the easier cracks will occur. This will cause the air conditioner to fail and hot air will not be removed properly.
4. Make sure the drain hose lays as straight as possible.
A lot of people do not consider this, but if an air conditioner hose has lots of bends, this can impede hot air to drain properly, which in turn causes the air conditioner to have trouble cooling the room.
5. Provide a proper window sealing
Because an air conditioner tube mostly hangs out of a window, often the window is open all the time. Apart from unwelcome bugs coming inside, an open window also causes warm outside air to come inside, and the desired effect (a cool room) will not be achieved.
Therefore, make sure the space between the air conditioner tube and the window is sealed properly.
